Apple is strict. A 20-minute OTP can finish a single prompt. If this number becomes a trusted phone number on the Apple ID, rent Apple. Losing that SMS channel is how people lock themselves out of iCloud.
OpenAI / ChatGPT
OpenAI asks for a phone on many new accounts. Use the OpenAI service on SMS.Red, not a random unused number. If you expect password resets, rent it.
